Good basic hotel - Kevin Hotham. Date of travel: Jan 2006
Good basic hotel with clean and comfortable, if small, rooms. Bathroom was clean and functional and the best one could expect from a 3-star hotel. We were on the third floor, so didnt have views, but if you get a room on the top floor the views are amazing. Had a good buffet breakfast including in our room rate. The hotel staff were pleasant enough and the Hotel Astoria was centrally located in Barcelona, fairly near La Ramblas and there were plenty of good cafes and restaurants nearby. Suggest the cafe Paris for coffee and snacks and the Jockey Club for breakfast. Lots of shopping also. The Astoria also has a roof terrace and swimming pool which has great views of the city (not bad for 3-star). I'll return the the Astoria hotel when next in Barcelona. Only negative is that it's not near the beaches.
