Stayed at the Amrey Diagonal Hotel twice and wouldn't even think of looking at another hotel in Barcelona. Location is great, 10-15min walk to beach and within walking distance to many other areas. Tram/bus link right outside hotel and metro within 5 min walk. Rooms large (especially if you are lucky enough to get a corner room!) and VERY clean. Buffet breakfast is very good with a good choice of fresh fruit,cheeses,cold meats, pastries etc. Staff very friendly and helpful.

Stayed here in September. Amrey Diagonal was fairly basic but good value. The rooms and bathroom were large and clean and had air con. The food wasnt great, we had a fairly mediocre breakfast which was just about edible. Better chioce in the cafe around the corner. Lots of choice in the Glories Shopping complex which is nearby, by the metro. The hotel was located quite a way from the centre of Barcelona and the metro is a 10 min walk away, but you can also get there by tram which goes past the hotel. The beach is a 20 minute walk straight down a street called Poble Nou. The Ramblas is the best place to go in the evening - you can get there on the subway or by taxi (around 8 Euros). Overall, the Amrey Diagonal is a good value hotel which I'd happily recommend.
