Hotel Chateau - Kitty. Date of travel: Jan 2008
We stayed in Hotel Chateau in Bansko which is not in the resort centre as the Panorama brochure states! The food we were presented with in the hotel you wouldn’t give to a dog! Taxis from the hotel to the ACTUAL resort centre varied from 5 Bulgarian lev to 25 lev!! The majority of Bulgarians are rude and money hungry who are intent in fleecing the tourists. Bansko was full of Russian tourists who were equally as rude and skipped all queues on the mountain. Thankfully we got a few hours sleep on our last night as we had a three and a half hour transfer to Plovdiv airport only to sit there for three hours to be told by the rep we had to get a 4-6 hour bus ride to northen Greece. We then learnt that no flights had gone in or out of Plodiv airport for the previous two days due to fog! The 4-6 hour transfer ride turned out to be over 9 hours!! When we got to Thessoloniki airport we still had to sit there for 6 hours to get a plane that took us to Dublin instead of Cork where BMI expected us to get another 4 hour bus to Cork. Never again am I going to Bulgaria, flying with BMI or sitting on a bus.
